Seven months pregnant Grinham won the women’s individual compound bronze on Saturday, defeating teammate Phoebe Paterson Pine to claim her second medal in Paris.
After the first end, the GB pair was ahead by one point (39–38), but at the midway point, the scores were even at 77–77.
Hadi Nori of Iran scored two 8s to give Great Britain a two-point lead (115–113) heading into the last end. GB responded magnificently, scoring a flawless 40 to win the championship.
Grinham, 31, who won compound team, said, “At the end, all I wanted to do was jump up and down and cry and scream and shout.
However, since I was significantly pregnant, the best thing I could do was crouch and take a moment before I could give her hugs and other comforts.
The Welsh archer, who is also a mother to her baby son Christian, decided to attend the Games in Paris after being chosen for the competition with the intention of inspiring women. Her presence in the media has garnered interest from all around the world.
However, things haven’t been easy; following a scare the previous week, she had to check into a hospital in Paris before being allowed to go back and compete.
