The drive was established by two run plays. On the initial jet sweep carry, Khalif Raymond was the first to score. David Montgomery then moved the ball into Rams territory after 21 yards.
After that, Jared Goff found Jahmyr Gibbs with a ball for a 10-yard gain. The Lions were now able to scent the end zone.
After a couple more carries, Montgomery finally found the end zone to score. In the end, he gained 91 rushing yards. Gibbs added a touchdown and forty yards gained on the ground.
Goff completed 18 of 28 passes for 217 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
In the first part of the third quarter, the Lions led by a considerable margin. With 10:29 remaining in the fourth, Goff hit Jameson Williams for a 52-yard touchdown throw, putting Detroit ahead 17-3.
To reduce the deficit to seven points, Stafford guided the Rams on an 11-play, 70-yard drive that was capped off by a touchdown pass from Kyren Williams. Joshua Karty, the Rams’ kicker, added a 26-yard field goal, and Stafford later connected with Cooper Kupp for a 9-yard score.
After Goff brought Detroit back into field goal range on the Lions’ last possession, Jake Bates tied the score with a 32-yard field goal. The game went into overtime with a score of 20–20.
Williams ended up with 121 yards on five catches.
