Andrei Vorobyov, the regional governor of Moscow, stated that at least one person has died and that many structures have sustained damage.
Three additional individuals were injured, and one woman died. While emergency personnel dealt with drone debris, five residential buildings close to one of the damaged buildings were evacuated, according to Mr. Vorobyov.
In the two and a half years of the conflict, if the numbers are verified, it would rank among the largest drone assaults by the Ukrainians on Russian territory.
Drones struck high-rise apartment buildings in the town of Ramenskoye, which is about 31 miles (50 km) southeast of the city, causing fires.
Three airports around Moscow were temporarily forced to close due to the attack: Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky. According to Rosaviatsia, the Russian civil aviation regulator, 48 flights were diverted in all.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, drone debris fell on a residence outside the city, but no one was injured.
He saw more than a dozen drones flying toward Moscow before they were shot down en route.
