The 52-year-old was hired about four months after he left Chelsea following just one season in charge, making him the tenth head coach of the USMNT in 14 years.

“What motivated me was the fervor, the drive, and the desire to accomplish something genuinely momentous here.
“I couldn’t turn down the chance to captain the US men’s national team in front of supporters who share the same fervor as the players.
Since Jurgen Klinsmann took over as head coach of the USMNT in 2011, Pochettino is the team’s first foreign coach. The Argentine will “lead the team into the FIFA World Cup 2026,” which will be hosted in the US, according to the USMNT’s website.
Prior to the World Cup, Chief Executive JT Batson stated that Pochettino’s “deep knowledge of the game, his commitment to developing talent, and his relentless drive for excellence are exactly what we need”.
