Andy King made his statement following Billy McFarland’s announcement of Fyre II. McFarland was only recently freed from prison for defrauding millions of people out of the initial film.
Mr. King told the news that McFarland was “known for the biggest failure in pop culture and wants to flip the script.” Mr. King lost $1 million in the original fiasco. However, I’m not sure if he’s approaching it correctly.”
Due to the 2017 event in the Bahamas, which did not fulfill the “luxury” that was promised for tickets costing up to $250,000, McFarland, 32, was sentenced to four years in prison. As much as $1.1 million (£840,000) will get you into Fyre II in April of next year.
Last week, McFarland stated to US media that “Fyre II has to work”. During the ‘early bird’ price of $499, he had already sold 100 tickets, claiming to have spent a year planning it.
In an interview, Mr. King, 63, expressed his concern that McFarland, his old business partner, had not “learned a lot in prison… he’s shooting from the hip again.” He had seen McFarland several months prior to discuss Fyre II.
