Following their discussions in London, the two men traveled to the capital of Ukraine together. They are scheduled to meet with President Volodymr Zelensky, who has urged Washington to relax the restrictions on weaponry supplied by the US.
“Hear directly from the Ukrainian leadership” about their “objectives and what we can do to support those needs” was one of their objectives, according to Blinken.
US President Joe Biden had earlier stated that his government was “working” on the possibility of lifting the limitations.
When UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer meets with Biden at the White House on Friday, the strategy will be examined in more detail.
Denys Shmyhal, the prime minister of Ukraine, expressed gratitude to Lammy for the UK’s military assistance to his country throughout the conflict.
However, he went on, saying, “We hope that long-range equipment for strikes on our enemy’s territory will be reached and we will have it. We also hope for your help and support in this matter.”
Out of concern for an escalation, the US and UK have not yet granted Ukraine permission to employ long-range missiles against targets within Russia.
The United Kingdom has provided Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles, which have a 250 km (155 mi) range. They have only been employed against Russian targets thus far.
