Betavolt’s tiny nuclear battery can power anything for 50 years without charging — How does it work?

This new energy innovation will help China gain a leading edge in the new round of the AI technological revolution

According to a story published in the Independent last week, Betavolt, a Chinese business, has unveiled a new nuclear battery that it says can produce power for 50 years without needing to be charged.

Betavolt stated, “This new energy innovation will help China gain a leading edge in the new round of the AI technological revolution.” It claimed that by packing 63 nuclear isotopes into a module no bigger than a penny, it is the first nuclear battery to miniaturize atomic energy.

After testing, the battery will be made in large quantities for use in commercial applications like drones and phones.

The 15x15x5 cubic millimeter, first nuclear battery of its sort from Betavolt, has a voltage of 3V and can produce 100 microwatts of power.

By 2025, it does want to manufacture a battery with a single watt of electricity.

The initiative is a component of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, which intends to boost the national economy by 2025. The technique is also being developed by other research organizations in Europe and the United States.

With this technology, electronics might be completely transformed as there would be no need for portable power banks or chargers. Instead, devices could operate continually with batteries that never run out of capacity or lifespan.

“Betavolt’s atomic energy battery is safe, emits no external radiation, and can be used in medical devices like pacemakers, artificial hearts, and cochleas in humans,” the company stated.

“Batteries with atomic energy are friendly to the environment.Following the decay period, the 63 isotopes of copper combine to form a stable isotope that is non-radioactive and does not harm the environment.
