The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has been accused of using election rigging techniques in advance of the general elections scheduled for February 8 by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The PPP chairman blamed the Nawaz Sharif-led party for steadily marginalizing its political rivals in an attempt to seize power without any election competition, as both political heavyweights eyed the prime minister’s position.

During a Monday press conference in Qambar Shahdadkot, Bilawal declared, “The Nawabs League wants to play alone by removing all political opponents from the pitch. It doesn’t want to do fair politics.”

He said that the returning officer (RO) had denied some PPP candidates their “arrow” electoral sign because the Nawaz-led party had put pressure on them.

The politician, who was the foreign minister in the previous coalition government headed by the PML-N, declared that he will file an appeal to the rulings with the electoral commission and the courts.

“In Punjab, PML-N is trying to take benefit of recent developments against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” Bilawal added, while alluding to the Supreme Court’s judgment that cost the Imran-led party ‘bat’ symbol.

According to him, the PML-N and PPP’s electoral symbol, “lion” and “arrow,” are currently in competition for the next elections.

Before addressing the media, Bilawal urged PPP members to vehemently oppose and foil PML-N plots.

He restated his opposition to any additional postponement of the planning of national elections and stated, run away from the election contest, they would suffer a significant defeat.

The PPP chairman supported the high court finding that disapproved of the previous ruling party, which came to power in 2018.

He stated that although PTI had not carried out its internal polls in a letter and spirit, his party would not support any action that would strip a political party of its electoral symbol.

Since taking over as Pakistan’s Chief Justice, Bilawal has also complimented the rulings of Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
