The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a more thorough image of the conditions within two significant Gaza medical facilities, including Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, following a visit.
Only 12 health workers, or 10% of the hospital’s total employment, remain after Doctors Without Borders (also known as Médecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF) and two other relief organizations withdrew their support this month.
It stated that there are only two doctors available to treat injured patients in the emergency room, and that maternity services are closed. It also mentioned the scarcity of fuel, food, and water.
Additionally, according to the WHO, the 700 patients occupying the 360-bed Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis—double its typical capacity—continue to be overcrowded.
