ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan may face a military trial for his alleged role in the May 9 riots, and the Islamabad High Court (IHC) requested explanation from the government on Monday.
The PTI founder’s challenge against the military proceedings in the May 9 case, which saw military installations vandalized after his arrest in a fraud case last year, was heard by IHC’s Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
“The government has not provided a definitive response. During today’s session, Justice Aurangzeb said, “I am giving you time to bring instructions in this regard.”
The Ministry of Defence requested more time after the court ordered it to take a firm stand at the upcoming hearing. The matter was postponed till later.
