‘Quite major’ ankle injury to Odegaard—Arteta۔

On Monday, September 9, during Norway’s Nations League victory against Austria, the midfield player hobbled off.

Midway through the second half, Odegaard went down in pain after being fouled by Christoph Baumgartner and injuring his left ankle.

He missed Sunday’s 1-0 victory against Tottenham in the north London derby as he went to Arsenal for an MRI.

“We are going to miss him,” stated Gunners manager Arteta prior to his team’s Champions League match against Atalanta on Thursday. “The scan showed some damage around the ligaments in the ankle.”

We’ll be losing him for a while because it’s extremely important. Not months, hopefully.”

Due to his injury, Odegaard, 25, will not be able to go to Italy or see his team’s matchup against Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League.

“He’s our captain,” Arteta continued. He has been one of our team’s largest and most talented players.

Our sense of self is closely connected to the way he acts and plays. The team is putting our ability to present a new face to the test.
