ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Ordinance 2024 was signed into law by President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday, just hours after receiving approval from the federal cabinet.
The highly contested ordinance was approved earlier by the cabinet, which was led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
After being delivered to the prime minister and cabinet on Thursday night by the Ministry of Law, the ordinance was adopted by the federal cabinet “through a circulation”.
According to the ordinance, the judges would consider the cases from the perspectives of public importance and fundamental human rights.
According to the ordinance, each matter will be heard in turn; if not, a justification will be provided.
