It’s a part of the website’s attempts to stop misinformation ahead of the US presidential election in November.
The impacted accounts belong to TV-Novosti, the parent company of the news station, and the media conglomerate Rossiya Segodnya, which is the owner of the RIA Novosti and Sputnik news services.
According to TikTok, the accounts’ global material was identified as state-controlled media and that they have previously been subject to restrictions in the UK and the EU.
It is currently believed that they have been outlawed indefinitely, nevertheless.
It comes after Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, took a similar action last week, banning Rossiya Segodnya, RT, and other users for engaging in “foreign interference activity”.

By prohibiting the networks, Meta, according to the Kremlin, is “discrediting itself”.
The announcement made by TikTok on Monday has not received any feedback thus far.
The US brought charges against two workers last month for allegedly attempting to hire an American corporation to create online content with the intention of influencing the election, which led to the bans.
