Farhad Moshiri’s 94% majority ownership in the Toffees was agreed to be purchased by the Friedkin Group on Monday, seemingly ending the British-Iranian’s reign.
It has been a tumultuous period. Following his ascent to power in 2016, Moshiri declared lofty goals and made large purchases. But Everton supporters won’t have many pleasant memories during his rule.
Recent years have seen a lot of wasted money and deeper financial problems, thin squads suffering at the bottom of the Premier League table, and fan rallies against the club’s management. Moshiri and several board members have also avoided Goodison.
Naturally, the club and its supporters were given hope when 777 Partners finalized an agreement to purchase the team in September of last year.
The Miami-based investment company was unable to finalize the acquisition. Due to their financial and legal issues, 777 was unable to pass the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ exam.
