Justice Yahya Afridi of the Supreme Court declared on Monday that the PTI is a real political party and therefore qualified for reserved seats, whereas the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) does not meet the required constitutional requirements.
He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to reconsider the notice about reserved seats in a dissenting note on the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding them.
He emphasized that because Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had not yet filed a formal application, they had not initially been included as a party in the legal proceedings.
Justice Afridi emphasized that PTI just requested to be listed as a party on June 26, with Barrister Gohar requesting to help in the ongoing litigation.
