Nasir Hossain, an all-rounder for Bangladesh, has been banned from all forms of cricket by the International Cricket Council for two years after he violated the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

The 32-year-old cricket player was given a two-year ban from all forms of competition, with six months suspended, after pleading guilty to three crimes. The council had filed charges against the player in September of 2023.

In an official statement, the international cricket governing body said that Hossain had acknowledged breaking Article 2.4.3 of the Code by neglecting to “disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (without unnecessary delay) the receipt of a gift that was offered to him that had a value of over $750, namely the gift of a new iPhone 12.

“He also violated Article 2.4.4 of the Code by failing to give the investigating authority all the information about “the approach or invitation he received to engage in Corrupt Conduct via the new iPhone 12.”
