According to a statement from the campaign, the Republican presidential nominee was briefed “about actual and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”
It did not provide further details on the allegations, and it was not immediately apparent whether the threats it mentioned were brand-new or had already been publicized.
Requests for reaction from the Iranian government were not immediately answered, but Tehran has frequently refuted accusations from the US that it meddles in US internal affairs.
Trump stated that there are “big threats on my life by Iran” on the social media platform X, which was formerly Twitter.
He remarked that an attack on him was a “death wish by the attacker” and expressed gratitude to Congress for increasing funding for the Secret Service.
The statement from Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung stated, “Intel officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months.”
“Law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference,” he stated.
