LONDON: The University of Oxford has been informed that Imran Khan, a former prime minister, is attempting to run for the position of Chancellor in order to further his political and personal ambitions, not with the best interests of the university in mind.
Khurram Butt, an activist for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the UK, has informed the institution through a new petition that Khan will never serve the university’s interests and is just interested in using the media campaign surrounding the Chancellor’s election to get political points.
Butt declared on Tuesday that he had visited the university to distribute flyers and to present a fresh petition with fresh proof, asking the school to avoid getting involved in politics or scandal.
The £190 million case of the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) was highlighted in the petition.
