RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan, the jailed founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has declared that his party fully supports Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Supreme Court to be the nation’s next chief justice.
“The next chief justice’s appointment ought to be made public shortly. The former prime minister remarked, “[We] wholeheartedly support Justice Mansoor Ali Shah,” during an informal conversation with reporters on Wednesday at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
After being ousted from office by a parliamentary vote in April 2022, Khan stated that the “government is bent on destroying the judiciary” and that the “constitutional court is to end the power” of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
The founder of the PTI stressed that the government “does not want the PTI to rise at any cost” and that they “want the [2024] election fraud to be covered by their own judges.”
