at a motion filed on Thursday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) requested that the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Ordinance 2024 be deemed “unconstitutional” at the highest court.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan submitted a constitutional petition in which he sought the declaration of “illegal” and “annulled” status for all Practice Procedure Committee rulings made after the ordinance’s passage.
Read the request. The newly-constituted practice and procedure committee should be barred from serving for the duration of the constitutional petition. It further stated that the former committee need to continue operating while the ordinance petition is pending.
A week after the president and federal government adopted the highly contested ordinance, the PTI petition was submitted.
