ISLAMABAD According to sources cited in a The News article, the government has chosen to postpone till October 31 the financial bidding for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The sources claim that the delay has been attributed to unsolved concerns and low bidder interest.
The privatization process has been extended until October 1, as previously reported by the Standing Committee on Privatization of the National Assembly. However, the procedure has been postponed once more, this time by one month.
The sources went on to say that ongoing court cases, fleet aging, and problems with civil aviation could have contributed to the delay.
The plans have been modified in response to information provided earlier this week by Usman Bajwa, the secretary of the Privatization Commission, to the Standing Committee on Privatization of the National Assembly.
