Election researchers Arge Wahlen for TV predict that Herbert Kickl, a former interior minister ousted over the nation’s Ibiza crisis, will lead the party with 29.1% of the vote.
With 26.2% of the vote, they are expected to finish ahead of the ruling conservatives. Third with twenty.4% of the vote were the center-left Social Democrats.

For the first time since the Second World War, the far-right party is anticipated to be in the lead to form a coalition, albeit it is uncertain if they will be able to find a partner.

“The other parties should ask themselves where they stand on democracy,” Mr Kickl stated.

The party has capitalized on concerns about immigration, inflation, and the conflict in Ukraine, and its impressive results come after the far-right has made significant advances in other parts of Europe.

Mr. Kickl, who is running to be the next chancellor of Austria, has come under fire for using the Nazi phrase for Adolf Hitler from the 1930s: “Volkskanzler,” or chancellor of the people. He has disapproved of the analogy.
