In the upcoming Original series The Penguin, the Irish actor reprises his role as the notorious DC villain Oswald Cobb, a figure first introduced to audiences in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film starring Robert Pattinson.
He spends three hours a day in the makeup chair and is no longer recognizable as the actor well known for The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges.
When it comes to appearing in public, Farrell told News, “I’m left alone most of the time anyway.” However, he admitted that when he initially put on the prosthetics, his curiosity got the better of him.
About six months before to the release of the first Batman movie, I went to Starbucks once after we completed the initial makeup test,” he remarked. Although I received a few side looks, nobody provided any background or references. But you really couldn’t tell, up close and personal.
The Oscar nominee had always wanted to portray the role of Penguin.
Previously portrayed by Danny DeVito in the Batman Returns movie from 1992, Farrell expressed gratitude to Reeves for giving him the opportunity to personalize the comic book character.
