Post Office inquiry: Former chair Henry Staunton claims that the government and executives “dragged their feet” on paying out.

In addition to accusing the organization of having a “huge cultural problem” with a lack of ethnic and gender diversity, Henry Staunton, who was fired from his position as chair after 14 months by then-business secretary Kemi Badenoch in January, also claimed that he was in charge of “vindictive” investigations into two sub-postmasters who were on the company board.
In addition, he refuted claims that he had made misogynistic and racial remarks about his coworkers at the Post Office, claiming that he had been “deeply stung” by an internal probe that Ms. Badenoch had utilized as an excuse to fire him.

Mr. Staunton, a former chairman of WH Smith and director of TV, was hired in December 2022 after headhunters contacted him and promised to “give something back” if he took the job.

atHe claimed that upon arriving to senior management, he saw a chaotic culture that necessitated more time than the two days per week he had been informed was necessary.

“The place was a mess that required more of my time,” he stated. He said that the executives did not fully accept the findings of the High Court’s decision, which exposed the role of the Horizon computer system in multiple false prosecutions. He said that the executives did not fully accept the findings of the High Court’s decision, which exposed the role of the Horizon computer system in multiple false prosecutions.
