Since Arsene Wenger’s “invincibles” team of 2003–04, Mikel Arteta’s team has not won the trophy, finishing second behind Manchester City the last two seasons.
After six games, they are now one point behind leaders Liverpool and in third position in the table, tied for second place with City.
Saka told Sports, “I do not want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think that this is the year [Arsenal win the title].”
“Hopefully, this will be the year, but I think we have been close the last two years and we are getting closer.”
Saka not only placed second in the Premier League but also played for England in the 2021 and 2024 European Championship finals, which they lost.
The 23-year-old claims that despite Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League victory against Paris St-Germain, which demonstrated their ability to compete with the top teams, his dissatisfaction is motivating him to win titles this season.
“In past years, I’ve placed second several times. I just have this want to win this season, and I have a strong sense of self-belief, he said to Amazon Prime.
