The International Cricket Council (ICC) punished Jayawickrama with three code breaches in August after he obstructed an inquiry and neglected to disclose a plan to fix matches.
After that, the 26-year-old acknowledged breaking the anti-corruption code.
Jayawickrama has agreed to a sentence of a one-year period of ineligibility, of which the final six months are deferred, as a result of the admission, the ICC stated.
The ICC added that Jayawickrama was urged to get in touch with another player to arrange for matches in the 2021 Lanka Premier League and that he was also solicited to plan international matches.
When Jaywawickrama collected 11 wickets in his first Test match against Bangladesh in April 2021, he was given his international debut.
He last appeared for Sri Lanka in June 2022. He has participated in five Test matches, five One-Day Internationals, and five Twenty20 Internationals.
