After Babar Azam quit, there was a contest for the Pakistani cricket team’s captaincy.
After right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan resigned from the opening batsman position, Geo News sources claimed that Rizwan was the “strongest candidate” to be captain of the white-ball team.
As per the sources, relevant officials are asked to consult with Rizwan for team selection.
Despite being encouraged to captain the team in the One Day Internationals by Gary Kirsten, the white-ball coach, during the connection camp, Babar was reportedly not going to step down from his post.
The sources reported that Azam was not persuaded, stating that he felt unappreciated and cut off from the team.
