On September 28, Jay Cartmell was seriously injured in his head while on land near the A66, north of Warcop.
At the scene, a man in his 60s was taken into custody on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. Later, he received a bail.
In a statement released by Cumbria Police, Jay’s parents, Leigha and James Cartmell, paid homage to him and recalled him as “loving, kind, and full of mischief”.
They described him as “the best boy that anyone could wish for and the third corner of our beautiful family ‘triangle'” .
“Jay loved being outdoors, the muddier he could get,” they continued.
