US antisemitic acts soar to an all-time high—report.

A preliminary report from the Anti-Defamation League Center for Extremism (ADL) claims that since the Hamas attack in Israel last year, reports of antisemitic occurrences in the US have increased to an unprecedented level.

Between October 7, 2023, and September 24, 2023, the group discovered over 10,000 occurrences, which is more than a 200% increase over the same period last year.

This is the largest number since the ADL started keeping track of these occurrences in 1979.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security jointly released a statement a few days prior alerting the public to potential violent threats in light of the continuing unrest in the Middle East.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt stated in a statement that “Jewish Americans haven’t had a single moment of respite” since last October’s Hamas attack on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of about 1,200 people.

“Instead, we’ve heard calls for more violence against Israelis and Jews worldwide, as well as an alarming amount of antisemitic threats.”

The ADL documented almost 10,000 instances of antisemitism, of which 8,015 involved verbal or written abuse, 1,840 involved vandalism, and 150 involved violent attack.

According to the research, California had the most incidences with 1,266 incidents, followed by New York with 1,218 and New Jersey with 830, and Florida with 463.

The ADL stated that as more data came in, it anticipated that its preliminary figures would rise.
