Citing security concerns, the administration of Balochistan stated that mobile internet services would be suspended throughout the province on September 5 and 6.
The provincial Home Department stated in a notice that the action was taken to uphold law and order and avoid any unfortunate incidents.
The suspension will apply to Quetta and other vulnerable locations, where officials believe social media could be used to propagate misinformation or foment violence.
Officials made it clear that Wi-Fi and broadband connections will continue to function; the prohibition solely impacts mobile data services.
