In addition to directing consular authorities to take the necessary action, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau warned Thursday that Washington might take action against foreigners “praising, rationalizing, or making light” of the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In a post on social networking site X, Landau stated, “Given yesterday’s terrible murder of a prominent political figure, I want to emphasize that foreigners who incite violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.”
“I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalising, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action.”
Landau did not go into detail on the implications of such a move.
