According to data made public by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), credit card payments and purchases totaled Rs169 billion in August 2025, a 31.6% rise over the same month the previous year.
In August 2024, consumers used credit cards to spend Rs128 billion. Compared to July 2025, when credit card transactions totaled Rs163 billion, August 2025 saw a 3.6% increase.
The State Bank of Pakistan said on Monday that remittances from Pakistanis living abroad totaled $3.1 billion in August 2025.
Inflows decreased by 1% month over month, but increasing by 7% over the previous year, indicating erratic patterns in the nation’s foreign income support.
