Star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan, who was one of four players rested for the second and third Test matches against England by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), inspired the national team with a heartfelt shoutout on Monday.
Key players including Shaheen, pacer Naseem Shah, wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed, and former captain Babar Azam were rested by the PCB “in the best interest of Pakistan cricket”.
“I’m wishing luck to Team Pakistan! wishing for a powerful resurgence. Everyone is clapping you on!” remarked Shaheen Shah in an X post.
In an explanation to The News, a PCB representative said that the players were “spared from the team to give them rest so that they can come back refreshed.”
