PESHAWAR: According to The News on Sunday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has dropped all charges against PTI leaders and members in relation to the May 9 riots.
The miscreants targeted military and public facilities, such as Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, during the violence that was sparked by the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan in a graft case.
The erstwhile ruling party, whose senior officials, including founder Imran, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and others, are still imprisoned for their claimed involvement in a number of incidents, has been plagued by legal and political issues as a result of the upheaval.
The KP cabinet gave its permission before the decision was made, according to a formal notification released by the provincial Home Department.
