A sequel to Disney’s beloved sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place is finally coming.
Disney Branded Television has ordered a pilot for the follow-up, executive produced by Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who both appeared in the first series.
The ensemble
While David’s character Justin Russo will continue to be a series regular, the 31-year-old singer will bring back her much-loved character Alex Russo as a guest star in the pilot.
Alkaio Thiele, Mimi Gianopulos, and Janice LeAnn Brown are the newest cast members that will be working with him.
The storyline
The story resumes with an adult Justin Russo opting not to use his wizard abilities in favor of leading a typical human life with his wife and two sons following an unexplained incident at WizTech.
But when a formidable young magician in need of training comes to his door, he is shocked. Because Justin must come to terms with his past in order to ensure the Wizard World’s future.

Selena also announced the news on her Instagram stories, posting a copy of Deadline’s story along with the caption, “So excited!!”
“We’re back,” she tweeted, along with a photo of herself and David from the first season of Wizards of Waverly Place.
