India narrowly defeated Pakistan by just two runs in a rain-affected clash at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 held at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok. Pakistan needed 46 runs from 18 balls when rain halted play, and the match was decided via the DLS method in India’s favor.
Pakistan got off to a flying start, with opener Khawaja Nafay smashing Abhimanyu Mithun for a boundary followed by consecutive sixes, scoring 18 runs in the opening over. Maaz Sadaqat added a six off Stuart Binny in the second over but was soon dismissed for seven. Abdul Samad contributed a single, leaving Pakistan at 25-1 after two overs.
Nafay continued his attacking innings in the third over, hitting a four and a six off Shahbaz Nadeem, keeping Pakistan in contention, but the rain ultimately curtailed their chase.
Earlier, India posted a modest 86-4 in six overs, despite a blistering start from openers Robin Uthappa and Bharat Chipli. Uthappa scored 28 off 12 balls, while Chipli added 24 off 13. Pakistan’s bowlers, especially Mohammad Shahzad and Maaz Sadaqat, kept the total in check after India’s strong beginning.
In Pakistan’s opening match, they defeated Kuwait in a last-ball thriller, powered by skipper Abbas Afridi’s incredible unbeaten 55 off just 12 balls, which included six sixes in a single over. Shahid Aziz supported with 23 not out, helping Pakistan chase down 123 and secure a sensational win.
