Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reached out to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, inviting him for dialogue on the 18th Amendment and the NFC Award. Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister emphasized that any revisions must be based on broad political consensus and meaningful consultation.
Shehbaz Sharif underscored that a stronger federation depends on stronger provinces, adding that his vision aligns closely with Bilawal’s on this issue. He praised the provinces for improving service tax collection and urged them to further enhance their performance. The premier made it clear that he supports every policy that strengthens Pakistan, but will oppose any initiative that undermines national unity — citing the Kalabagh Dam as an example.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari delivered a fiery speech in the NA, declaring that the 18th Amendment is untouchable. He said the landmark reform restored provincial rights, introduced vital democratic changes, and was unanimously approved by all political parties — making it impossible for any individual or group to undo.
