Daniel Craig Was Director’s Top Choice for “Knives Out” Role

Daniel Craig remains the top pick of director Rian Johnson for the iconic role of Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out franchise. Johnson revealed that Craig was his first choice, but scheduling conflicts with the Bond films initially made him unavailable.

“We approached other actors, but it was mostly a series of ‘no’s for Benoit Blanc,” Johnson shared, keeping the names of the alternate actors under wraps.

As Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man premieres on Netflix on December 12, Johnson discussed the film’s deeper themes, including politics and religion. “The dialogue between the characters reflects two sides of me. I wanted to explore that personally, while still making it entertaining,” he explained.
