It is difficult to get Pakistan back on track: Nawaz

Pakistan has fallen behind in world," laments Nawaz while stressing need to rebuild

Nawaz Sharif, the supremo of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), bemoaned on Monday that it would not be an easy task to put Pakistan back on track, with approximately two weeks remaining before the forthcoming polls on February 8.

Nawaz’s comments coincide with the heightened electioneering activities of major political parties, such as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the PML-N, and others. Party leaders are spearheading their respective election campaigns in an attempt to win over the 240 million voters who will choose their representatives in the country next month.

The three-time prime minister is running for office on NA-15, and while speaking at a rally in Mansehra, the leader of the PML-N declared that Pakistan has to be “rebuilt” because it has lagged behind the rest of the world.

Thinking back to his time as the nation’s top executive, the politician emphasized that his administration had not only fixed the value of the dollar at 104 against the Pakistani rupee, but it had also “eliminated” load shedding from the nation.

Nawaz also launched a new attack without naming anyone, criticizing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its founder Imran Khan, a longtime opponent and critic of the PML-N, and bemoaned the fact that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had fallen for this “liar”.

Nawaz recalled the 2013 elections and said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), had approached him about creating a coalition government in KP. However, he declined the offer, preferring to respect PTI’s constitutional right to form government because of their size.

With a jab at the party that ruled the province from 2013 till January 2023, the PML-N supremo remarked, “I ask the people of KP, what did they [PTI] do during their 10-year rule?”

“These people have ruined this province,” he stated.

The politician stated that if voted into power, his administration would guarantee job creation, see to it that Mansehra got its own airport, and see to it that universities and colleges were established in the region. He also promised to solve the raging inflation.
