A new Randstad survey shows that four in five workers believe artificial intelligence will affect their daily tasks. Gen Z employees are the most worried as AI chatbots and automation become more common in the workplace.
The report also found that job postings requiring “AI agent” skills have surged by 1,587%, highlighting growing demand for AI expertise. AI and automation increasingly replace low-complexity, transactional roles.
Survey scope
Randstad, one of the world’s largest recruitment agencies, surveyed 27,000 workers and 1,225 employers. The report analyzed over 3 million job postings across 35 markets.
Worker concerns
Many workers fear AI will benefit companies more than employees. Nearly half of the respondents expressed this view. Gen Z showed the greatest concern, while Baby Boomers were the least worried and felt more confident about adapting.
Randstad CEO Sander van ‘t Noordende said: “Employees are enthusiastic about AI but also sceptical. Companies always aim to save costs and boost efficiency.”
Employer optimism vs employee outlook
The survey revealed a gap between employers and workers. About 95% of employers expect growth this year, but only 51% of employees share that optimism.
Context
Labour markets face pressure as corporations reduce jobs amid slowing consumer demand. AI-focused tech firms are replacing tasks with automation even as many companies await returns on major AI investments.
