After the Post Office accused 12-year-old Peter Holmes of stealing £46,000, he passed away six years before his record was cleared.
Marion Holmes spoke with Sky News ahead of her husband Peter’s criminal prosecution by former Post Office investigator Robert Daily’s appearance today at the public investigation into the scandal.
The investigation and the injustice experienced by the hundreds of sub-postmasters have gained more attention thanks to the ITV drama Mr. Bates Vs. The Post Office, which aired earlier this month.
When Mr. Holmes’ case came up for trial in 2010, the Post Office offered to drop the theft charge in exchange for a guilty plea to false accounting.
As part of his community order sentence, the former police officer agreed and was given a three-month curfew, meaning he could only leave the house between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
