FAISALABAD: On Sunday, police mistook the wedding convoy for the caravans of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as its members and supporters march towards Islamabad for a “do-or-die” demonstration.
The groom stated, “The police had it wrong; we have nothing to do with the protest.”
He went on to say that they were mistaken for being a part of the PTI caravan traveling to his house with the adorned cars.
Baratis’ cars were pulled over by the police on Sargodha Road. However, the newlyweds showed up to present their wedding card a few hours later.
Earlier, a police spokesperson said that police officers on Sargodha Road “foiled” the PTI workers’ effort to enter the picket covertly by pretending to be a part of a wedding procession including of eight luxury SUVs.
