The Israeli prime minister’s war crimes arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court has been described as “outrageous” by US President Joe Biden.
Additionally, the ICC issued an arrest request for Mohammed Deif, a Hamas commander whom Israel claims was killed in July, and Yoav Gallant, the now-fired defense minister under Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to judges, there were “reasonable grounds” to suspect the three men of “criminal responsibility” for atrocities committed during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Responses to the warrant were divided between the US and Europe, with some European nations stating that they uphold ICC rulings. According to the British government, Netanyahu might be arrested if he visits the country.
