In an interview with media on Thursday, PML-N’s legislative leader in the Senate, Irfan Siddiqui, stated that the constitutional package would probably be introduced in parliament during the first week of October.
Mr. Siddiqui did concur, though, that JUI-F, under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, would be necessary to support the amendments’ passage, particularly in the Senate.
He claimed that the JUI-F president, who backed the idea of a constitutional court, was in communication with the coalition government to get clarification on important matters such the number of judges, the appointment process, tenure, retirement age, and the service structure.
According to Mr. Siddiqui, the new constitutional court would have a federal organization and represent all of the provinces.
