At least six allied Kurdish soldiers were killed in a drone assault that occurred late on Sunday night and targeted a military post in eastern Syria where American troops are stationed, according to sources.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Kurds and supported by the United States, said in a statement on Monday that the attack had targeted a training area at the al-Omar facility in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour. The statement claimed that the drone incident happened in a training location for the troops’ commando elements.
They reported that no American soldiers were hurt or killed in the incident.
Since the United States began attacking militias backed by Iran over the weekend, this was the first major attack in either Syria or Iraq. Fighters from the militia have been attacking civilian locations and U.S. personnel in the area.

Following an investigation into the attack, the SDF shifted their blame for Sunday’s attack from “Syrian regime-backed mercenaries” to “Iran-backed militias.”
All of the Iraqi militias in the nation that receive support from Iran are united under the Islamic Resistance, which took credit for the attack on Sunday and published a video purporting to show them launching the drone that was used in it.
The U.S. military launched strikes against Houthi insurgent sites in Yemen over the weekend, preceding the attack on Sunday.
At roughly 5:30 a.m. Sanaa time on Sunday, U.S. Central Command forces stated they launched a “self-defense” strike against a Houthi land attack cruise missile.
Subsequently, at around 10:30 a.m., American forces attacked four Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen with anti-ship cruise missiles because they believed that they “presented an imminent threat to U.S. Navy ships and merchant vessels” in the Red Sea.
