A 30-year-old female factory worker tragically died in Bangkok, Thailand, when her management turned down her request for sick leave.
The woman, Mae, reportedly worked at an electronics industry in the province of Samut Prakan, according to reports from international media.
She was diagnosed with intestinal swelling, and on September 5 to September 9, she requested and was granted sick leave, accompanied by a medical certificate.
She was given leave and later admitted to the hospital for treatment, but she was released from the hospital after just four days.
Mae asked for an extra two days of leave on September 12 and stated that her illness was getting worse because of the demands of her job. She had taken enough leave, but her manager insisted that she return to work and provide another medical certificate.
