The House of Commons Education Committee also demanded that cell phone use be outlawed in classrooms.
The Department for Education published non-statutory guidelines earlier this year that give headteachers instructions on how to forbid phone use during class, breaks, and lunch.
The committee has stated that this does not go far enough, though.
According to the assessment, children’s screen time increased by 52% between 2020 and 2022, and a quarter of them were reportedly using their devices in an addicted way.
While the Online Safety Act would help to keep children safe online, committee members stated.
