Despite being detained on a DWI allegation in Texas over the weekend, Patrick Mahomes Sr. will still be permitted to travel for Super Bowl LVIII, a court declared on Monday.
Mahomes’ case was heard by Judge James Meredith in Smith County, Texas. The elder Mahomes will still be able to travel for the Sunday game in Las Vegas, Nevada, he confirmed to TMZ Sports.
Mahomes’ car has an interlock system, he is supposedly not allowed to use alcohol or illegal drugs, and he will have to submit to random drug tests.
Online records indicate that Mahomes was taken into custody on a driving while intoxicated three or more times charge in Texas on Saturday. On a $10,000 bond, he was set free.
In 2018, he was arrested for the second time for driving under the influence. After entering a guilty plea, he was given a 40-day jail sentence. In 2014, he was accused of having an open container of alcohol in his car, although he ultimately only had to pay a fine.

Just over a week before his son Patrick is scheduled to lead the Chiefs to Super Bowl LVIII against the 49ers in San Francisco, there was an arrest. The Chiefs have an opportunity to become the first club since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004 to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
Pat Mahomes Sr. and the Chiefs supporters have been following the playoffs. He was spotted with the squad celebrating on the field following Kansas City’s Jan. 28 AFC Championship Game victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
On Sunday, February 11, the Chiefs and 49ers square off in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
