A complaint has been filed in the Lahore High Court against the Aurat March procession scheduled for March. Advocate Rana Sikandar filed the petition on behalf of a citizen, Azam Butt.
The petitioner expressed fear that the women’s march could deteriorate the status of peace and order. The petitioner said that the Aurat March placards and banners are not appropriate in Islamic society.
The Lahore deputy commissioner, among others, has signed the plea. According to the petitioner, the Constitution guarantees women’s rights, and efforts are being done to improve women’s well-being. It is required that the state discontinue its unethical support of the Aurat March.
Anyone may launch a claim in court if they are not receiving their fundamental rights, the petitioner stated.
Every year to mark International Women’s Day, Aurat March a sociopolitical rally organised in Pakistani cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, and Quetta.
