SWAT: According to the local police, a man was burnt to death on Thursday night over accusations of blasphemy in the Madyan neighborhood of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district.
The district police officer (DPO) stated that the suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement and transferred to the police station. From there, the suspect was abducted by the crowd, who lit him on fire.
The Madyan police station was later attacked by an unruly group of persons who set it on fire and caused damage to the police cars, the DPO continued.
Police reported that “eight cops sustained injuries after outrageous protesters stormed the police station” and that the person suspected of sacrilege had been “tortured and burnt alive” by the crowd.
Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of KP, has acknowledged the occurrence and requested a report from the head of police.
Over the phone, the CM asked the public to maintain their composure and instructed the police to act quickly to bring the situation under control.
